By dividing a task typically intended for one body across two physical forms, each with their own constraints and affordances, Jascha and I brought this mind-body divergence into the notation process itself with the inevitable imperfections and unpredictability of this unnatural division of labour evidenced only by the notational footprint of the performance, rather than the music itself.
Musically, this fixed electroacoustic piece was constructed from processed recordings of a lamenting female voice and the sound of pen on paper, before finishing with an excerpt from Exuma’s ‘You Don’t Know What’s Going On’.
